The bulls gored at home and took away the undefeated Águila, in addition they dethroned Isidro Metapán, and became the new leaders of the Apertura 2024 tournament, after beating the Migueleños at the Sergio Torres Rivera stadium in Usulután.
Firpo started the match losing in the “Devil’s Cauldron”, after Gustavo Sousa scored a goal in the 9th minute of the match, in an action where Walter Pineda of the feathered team lost the ball after receiving it in a backward action to accommodate Águila. The goal gave confidence to the local team in a Sergio Torres stadium full of the bulls’ fans.
The first half ended with very little for Águila to do, against a Firpo that was very well positioned to prevent the orange-black team from approaching the small area of Wilberth Hernández, the home team’s goalkeeper, and in the final minutes it was possible to see the intentions of the team led by Argentine Daniel Messina to try to equalize the score.
In the second half, Águila was seen to be completely different from the start of the match, with more intentions, more attacks, more opportunities, but without the key factor that could not be realized: Hernández’s effectiveness up front.
In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Águila had two very clear opportunities, first the ball went wide of the goal and on the second occasion the team from San Miguel had the ball in front of the goal but the crossbar was the avenger.
Águila arrived in Usulután to lose the unbeaten streak they maintained until the tenth date of the first round of the Apertura 2024 tournament, and after which they will have to redeem themselves before the second round.
