Luis Ángel Firpo’s bulls gored Fuerte San Francisco in the devil’s “cauldron” and were crowned the new leaders of the Clausura 2024 tournament. On the last date the team from Usulután, Municipal Limeño and Alianza finished in the top 3 of the table after matchday 14 of the tournament was played.
Firpo became the new leader of the tournament by goal difference with Municipal Limeño, which also has the same number of points in the table. The bulls narrowly beat Fuerte this Wednesday, with a goal from Mario Martínez in the 61st minute, and it was enough for the team to get first place.
Cuchero, which has been the club that has most predominated with the leadership, shared points with Platense by tying by the minimum at the Antonio Toledo Valle stadium, with a goal from Ever Caicedo at 47′ for the Viroleños, and from Gilberto Baires the visiting team.
The Alianza albos arrived at the Jorge “Calero” Suárez stadium to deliver the sixth defeat to the Jaguars thanks to the goals of Angelo Rodríguez, Sebastián Julio and Ezequiel Rivas, protagonists of the night for the capital team.
The current champion, Águila, defeated 11 Deportivo 3 to 1, at the Juan Francisco Barraza stadium. The goals were from Luis Rodríguez, Néstor Renderos (Gec) and Walter Torres, before Carlos Salazar’s own goal that benefited the visiting team.
Santa Tecla beat Dragon’s purslane team 3-1 in Las Delicias, with Anthony Roque’s premature goal at 2′, Emerson Mancilla’s at 70′ and Óscar Rosales’ at 90+6′. Steven Guerra scored for the Migueleños at 77′. The FAS Tigres beat the current Salvadoran soccer runners-up 1-3 at home, Jocoro, who after Yair Arboleda’s goal at 18′, Rafael Tejada’s at 33′ and Jairo Martínez’s at 64′ took home the three points for Santa Ana and they finished in sixth place in the table.
