Problems with mobile coverage during the Four Days Marches: ‘A recurring problem indeed’
The range of mobile phones currently leaves much to be desired. “This is indeed a recurring problem that can arise when it is busy, especially on Sundays because of the crowds on the Waalkade,” says a spokesman for the Four Days Marches.
“We have also contacted the telecom providers this year, but the policy is that they do not install masts. Work is being done on more bandwidth in the city, but it is expected that the effect of this will be limited in the future due to the growth in data use. The problem has our attention and we have done what we can.”
She advises people to use SMS instead of WhatsApp or calling when there is little coverage.
