A recent recall of several firework brands has underscored the meaningful dangers associated with these celebratory items. Five models have been pulled from the market due to the risk of severe burns and eye injuries, prompting renewed calls for increased safety awareness.
Among the recalled fireworks is a 71-shot battery sold under the label “Fireart,” lot number 22-35001. This product poses a serious risk due to the potential for explosions and the ejection of burning debris dangerously close to the ground. the potential for eye damage and burns to bystanders is significant. Similar risks are associated with the Ming Art of Fireworks, batch number 22-2785-112.
Further adding to the concerns, “KlaseK Pyrotechnics” (batch number 2301), “Magnum Splendid fireworks” (batch number 1303-2020-01), and “Pearls of Denmark” (batch number 23-11069) have also been recalled. These fireworks present additional hazards due to the excessive amount of burning material they project, increasing the risk of injury at a greater distance. Moreover, the fuse burn time on some of these models is excessively long, creating a risk of injury if users return to the firework too soon.
These recalled fireworks fail to meet the standards set by the Pyrotechnics Directive and the European standard EN 15947-5. The recalls were initiated following detection in Denmark,which issued a notification through the Safety Gate system,a rapid data exchange network for dangerous goods.
Gabriela Rumenova, founder of “We, the consumers,” offered crucial advice: “We should not buy pyrotechnics without information about the manufacturer, it is crucial to check that there is no damage to the packaging or the product itself as this could be a sign that it has been wetted making it dangerous.
