The prefect maintains the ban on the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics until January 6
The high level of the terrorist threat as well as the health situation justify the implementation of reinforced surveillance and security measures.
In order to prevent any threat to public safety and tranquility, the prefect of Var has issued a new prefectural decree which temporarily regulates the use of so-called entertainment fireworks and pyrotechnic articles the use of which is likely to create disorders and give rise to gatherings on the public highway.
In all the communes of the Var, the sale, carrying, transport and use of firecrackers, fireworks and pyrotechnic articles are prohibited. from Wednesday December 16, 2020 until Wednesday January 6, 2021 included, except for professional uses, by persons holding prefectural approval.
However, any fireworks display duly declared by the town hall and prefecture may be subject to a ban:
– depending on the constraints linked to the measures put in place in the context of the health crisis;
– for reasons of public order;
– depending on weather conditions;
– for any other reason suggesting a risk to the holding of the fireworks.
