He would have lit the fire Tuesday evening with a lighter. He confessed. And yet, moments later, a man saw him as a volunteer firefighter, as if nothing had happened. According to his testimony, the suspect was quiet and asked to evacuate the houses that day. But is he the author of all the fires of recent days? The 35-year-old man is presumed innocent. He admits to having lit several fires over the past three years. He was, however, a forester and sapper in charge of fire prevention. In the video at the top of this article, shot in 2016, we see him hard at work. For his cousin reached by telephone, it is incomprehensible. In his native village, the inhabitants are dismayed. “It hurts the heart because we have a beautiful village. We know each other a little bit, it’s a shame”, regrets a resident.
