“Fires in Kurgan Region Cause Evacuation of Residents and Destruction of Over 90 Buildings”

Fires rage in the villages of the Kurgan region and the city. The number of burning houses in the village of Logoushka has grown to 76, the fire from the fires has spread to the territory of the Kurganstalmost plant.

Governor of the Kurgan Region Vadim Shumkov said that in a number of settlements of the Ketovsky district and in the Utyak and Zaikovo microdistricts of the city of Kurgan, the situation is very difficult.

“The fire entered the territory of the Kurganstalmost plant. Extinguishing work in progress. We are additionally raising workers from several factories to help put out fires,” he said.

Emergency services say the blaze, which destroyed more than 90 buildings, including private homes and agricultural buildings, was tentatively caused by sparks from a passing diesel locomotive that set grass on fire.
