Firefighters rescue 3-year-old boy from Brooklyn fire

Firefighters rescued a 3-year-old boy and others from a two-alarm fire in a Brooklyn apartment early Thursday morning.

A video showed the dramatic rescue in which a firefighter lowered the infant down a ladder from a third-story window.

Authorities said the infant was one of four civilians transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull.

A total of 11 people were injured in the fire, which broke out at a NYCHA-owned apartment building on Manhattan Avenue in Williamsburg around 1:45 a.m., according to authorities.

The infant’s condition was said to be critical due to his age, but he is expected to survive. Another child was also seriously injured.

Two firefighters were also taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

One resident said she believes the incident started with a faulty heater in her apartment.

“I got up and went to the kitchen and I couldn’t believe that my apartment – my heater, that’s what they call it – was on fire,” he said.

He noticed the flames were low and immediately called 911.

“As soon as the fire got higher, and I tried to get water, I ran out, grabbed my son and ran,” she said.

The fire is still under investigation.
