Firefighters Rescue 150 Passengers from New York Subway Train

Around 150 passengers from a New York subway train were rescued by firefighters shortly before 4 p.m. this Tuesday.

The J train stopped shortly before the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue station in Jamaica, Queens. Firefighters had to use ladders to reach the train cars and help passengers get out. So far no injuries have been reported.

Unofficially it is believed that the train was hit by an object or that an object on the rails hit the train which had to brake emergency.

Aside from the injured passengers, the accident that occurred this Wednesday around 8:20 a.m. (Eastern time), left debris, smoke and a broken window on the train.

The causes of the accident are under investigation. But New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Tom Prendergast confirmed that the train was supposed to stop in the designated area and did not do so.
