The most powerful Mustang in history will help firefighters save lives more effectively, but over time it could become a very valuable rarity.

Firefighters’ interventions in traffic accidents must be rapid, accurate and effective, which requires thorough preparation. In addition to various trainings, firefighters also undergo training with modern cars, where they test their knowledge in practice and prepare for the actual intervention. But sometimes they train in cars where a similar fate really freezes.
This is an example of the new Ford Shelby GT500, the most powerful Mustang in history, which Ford donated to the fire department in Dearborn. And the firefighters decided to train the procedure of rescuing people from the crashed car – using hydraulic scissors.

In the photos from the exercise, which the firefighters presented on their Facebook profile, it is clear that they did not really caress the car. They cut off the roofs, removed the doors, halved the hood, and who knows what else. But you definitely don’t have to mourn, the carmaker dedicated the car to them exactly for these purposes.
It was a pre-production prototype, which did not have the slightest chance of getting on the road legally. The price of the car was probably not as astronomical as in the price list. However, as colleagues from Motor 1 pointed out – the cut prototype was equipped with, for example, a carbon circuit package “Carbon Track Pack”, which is an optional accessory for $ 18,500 (approximately CZK 430,200).

However, it is also worth noting some comments under the contribution of firefighters, which point out that even a pre-production prototype can have a huge price. And for example, we don’t have to go far. We can mention, for example, the Green Hornet Mustang, a test prototype of the first Shelby GT500 from 1968, which is still one of the rarest Mustangs in history.

The most expensive auctioned Mustang in history was relatively recently the first Shelby GT350R made in 1965. However, this prototype managed to cut a fascinating racing history, including winning the first victory on the track for Shelby. In addition, a number of stars sat behind his wheel, including Ken Miles.

The new Ford Shelby GT500, model year 2020, is a modern machine that everyone probably says there is no need to hide pre-production prototypes. After all, this is not common with most cars. But a look at history makes it clear that sewing a similar piece aside can be a pretty good investment in a few years or decades.
