According to him, the fire operations center received information about the roof fire at 2:35 p.m. The commander of the intervention announced the second level of fire alarm, two car platforms and two car ladders helped the firefighters on the spot.
“Immediately after the firefighters left the Ostrava-Zábřeh station, thick black smoke could be seen rising from the area of the reported fire. Therefore, the commander immediately called for additional tankers and high-altitude equipment,” said the spokesman.
According to him, the firemen extinguished the fire with water jets both from the inner part of the hall and from high-altitude equipment. “After the flames were extinguished, they had to dismantle the roofing and look for hidden fires in the load-bearing part of the roof,” stated Popp.

“Firefighters managed to get the fire under control within an hour, and it took them another four hours to completely extinguish it. The fire was avoided without injuries to both the employees and the firemen who intervened,” the spokesperson emphasized, adding that twelve employees left the hall before the firemen arrived.
“The damage caused by the fire was estimated at 700,000 crowns, the firefighters saved 30 million crowns with quick intervention. The cause of the fire is under investigation,” added Popp.
