After responding to the collapse of a building in Brooklyn, firefighters confirmed that no serious injuries were reported.

The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Union and Court streets, in a three-story building that has a gym on the first floor.
–
The Body Elite gym had said on social media that the business was being repaired. Indeed, the entire building appeared to be under construction at the time of the collapse.

FDNY Chief of Operations Thomas Richardson stressed: “Our units, when they arrived, began searches within the security limits. There were some empty spaces that we were able to search, and we were able to verify that no one else was in the building. We continued to search the Sidewalk areas around the building to verify that no one was walking through the building at the time of the collapse. We will work with the Department of Buildings throughout the day and night, and it will be a lengthy operation to make the scene safe. “

Meanwhile, the Chief of Operations for the Emergency Services, Lillian Bonsignore, noted: “This incident resulted in a minor injury. One person reported being in the building at the time, and was able to leave on his own, and has been transported to an area hospital in stable condition. That is the extent of the injuries and we do not foresee any further injuries at this time. “
