Firefighters Conduct Rescue Exercise in the Loire: Emphasizing the Importance of Alertness and Swift Action

Their presence on the banks of the Loire has not gone unnoticed. Monday, September 18, at the beginning of the afternoon, seven aquatic rescuers and eight divers from the Roanne and Stéphanois rescue centers carried out a rescue exercise in the Loire, directly above the bridge linking Roanne to the Coteau.

Firefighters recall the importance of the alert

Two mannequins had been submerged but the participants did not know where. It was therefore on the basis of a fictitious testimony from a person who had seen someone jump from the bridge into the Loire that they began the research.

After viewing the images from the urban protection center, they were also led to look for another person, a witness to the scene, who had also jumped from the bridge to rescue the first. The two submerged mannequins were finally found and brought back to the bank.

As part of searches of this type, the firefighters reminded on site the importance of the alert, of course, but also that of materializing the place where the victim(s) fell in order to locate the searches in this area. as soon as possible.

Monday morning, a similar exercise took place in the Rouchain dam, in Renaison. This Tuesday, another one is planned in the Valla-en-Gier dam.
