Firefighters managed to battle a fire that spread to several buildings in East Boston on Wednesday morning.
The fire was initially reported around 6:30 a.m. on Saratoga Street.
According to firefighters, the fire started in a three-story wooden structure and jumped to the second, also three-story, structure. Firefighters were still working to extinguish hot spots in the rear of the building at 8:00 a.m.
Authorities said 24 adults and nine children were displaced by the fire, and several cats were rescued. The Red Cross is helping those residents find a temporary place to stay.
None of the buildings’ residents were injured, but Boston EMS said they treated two firefighters who suffered burns and minor injuries from the fire.
Several fire engines attended the scene. Photos showed a ladder truck on top of the building, with numerous firefighters gathered outside.
No further details were immediately available.
