Firearm found turns out to be chocolate

The discovery of a firearm in Maastricht turned out to be less dangerous than it initially seemed. Officers who responded to the report discovered that it was a piece of chocolate.

A resident of the Limburg capital called the police last evening – Pakjesavond – because he had found the suspicious package at his front door. “With these kinds of reports, we will of course ensure that we are on site as soon as possible to secure that firearm,” the police wrote on Facebook.

When they arrived at the address, officers heard that the reporter has no problems with anyone and that he could not think of anyone who would threaten him in such a way. When the officers took a look themselves, it quickly became clear that it was candy: a chocolate gun with a chocolate box of ammunition.

Tip for Santa

Although the police could reassure the man, he did not need the present: the officers were allowed to take the ‘firearm’ to the station.

“We have a tip for Santa,” the police spokesperson concluded. “A chocolate letter at the front door would have been much better.”
