Fire without victims in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw: smoke visible for miles around

The fire then quickly intensified. A thick cloud of smoke rose, becoming visible for kilometers around, including from the other end of the Brussels Region, where they were photographed for example in Schaerbeek.

The building collapsed

Due to the severity of the fire, firefighters could not enter the hangar and had to try to extinguish the blaze from the outside. The building then collapsed. The Brussels firefighters also arrived as reinforcements with two pumpers, two ladder trucks and a tanker truck.

Authorities are advising local residents to keep doors and windows closed and turn off their ventilation systems.
