At 19.50, Ofoten’s fire moved to an automatic fire alarm in an apartment building in the Dronningens gate.
– There were open flames and fire in the apartment when the fire brigade arrived. Fortunately, there is both an automatic fire alarm to central 110 and a fire system in the building. It helped us get the fire under control quickly, says switchboard 110 supervisor in Nordland, Andreas Skindlo.
Serious water damage
– Yes, severe water damage has been reported in the block due to the irrigation system, he says.

Nordland Police Operations Manager Tormod Bikset says the water damage causes problems for those living in the condominium.
– The water damage means that the residents of the block will probably not be able to return to the apartment tonight, he says.
Hotel
– Will accommodation be organized for residents?
– People are free to live where they want. Generally, hotel accommodation arranged through insurance will be arranged for those who don’t have a place to stay overnight, Bikset says
All condominium apartments were confirmed evacuated / empty. A resident of the apartment is checked by the medical staff. No one else appeared to have been hit by the fire or smoke and the fire was extinguished, police announced on Twitter shortly after 8:30 pm.
