The fire service went out on Saturday afternoon to a low-rise block in Slettebakksveien, after they received a report of a fire from a security company.
The emergency services received the message just before 4 p.m. and were quickly on the scene, but it just as quickly turned out to be nothing dramatic.
– We received a report of a fire, but no more information than that. Then we raised the alarm as if there was a fire. When we arrived at the scene, there was light smoke in an apartment, which is probably due to a candle having melted on top of a wood-burning stove, duty commander in 110 Vest Jostein Steinsland-Hauge tells BA.
The police state that all the people who were in the apartment were attended by paramedics.
– Those who have been in the apartment have been found unharmed. They were joined by ambulance personnel, says operations manager Frode Kolltveit in the West police district.
Kolltveit states that the fire service ventilates the apartment before leaving the scene.
– A lot of smoke came out of a wood stove with candles on top. The stearin has reduced the heat, which has led to a development of smoke, says Kolltveit.
