In early August, the company sent a statement to CNN about one million recalled ovens.
Last June, a Colorado dog started a kitchen fire by snagging one of the knobs. There were cans on the stovetop, which fueled the flames.
The main problem is the front buttons on appliances, as pets and humans, especially young ones, can activate them unintentionally, creating an unintentional fire.

What to do?
Affected customers should contact Samsung Canada to receive a free set of latches or button covers.
Additionally, the company is encouraging people with Wi-Fi-enabled stoves to download the Samsung SmartThings app. By enabling the “Cooktop On” notification, it sends an alert if one of the cooktop burners is on.
“Consumers […] are advised to keep children and pets away from the controls, not to leave objects on the stove when not in use, and to check that the controls are turned off before leaving the house or going to sleep,” the government agency said in a statement Thursday.
This post is primarily for those who have electric stoves without a knob lock or cover.
