A fire has now broken out in Rhodes in a forest area, in the area of Monolithos.
According to information from ERT, the place where the fire broke out is difficult, therefore inaccessible to firefighters.
The fire department was immediately alerted to the fire, as a result of which strong forces were mobilized for the extinguishing operation. As the relevant announcement states, 40 firefighters with 1 pedestrian group of the 11th EMODE, as well as 12 vehicles, are helping to fight the flames.
At the same time, water is being dropped from aerial vehicles. In particular, 3 aircraft and 1 helicopter participate in the operation.
Finally, there is also a contribution from local water bodies.
