Over the weekend, firefighters inspected a number of nightclubs and restaurants in the capital and found several fire safety violations.
This was reported by the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service a post on Facebook Friday.
One consistent finding has been that large venues, with high capacity, let in too many people.
– Places with a lot of pressure
– We haven’t been out since before the coronavirus and were very excited about what it has meant for nightlife, says Erik Fæste Johansen, supervisory foreman at the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service in Nettavisen.

– The first thing that strikes us is this number of people. Especially in places where there’s a lot of pressure and a lot of people, she says.
And he adds:
– Most people aren’t good enough to keep the number of people down or have an orderly relationship with restrictions.
– Either that they don’t have an overview, or that they let too many people in, says Johansen.
Escape routes blocked
In addition to visitor number violations, firefighters made discoveries such as blocked and blocked escape routes, fire doors in the open position, and extinguished fire alarms that could not be explained.
– How many nightclubs break these rules?
– We have nearly ten pieces to follow up on, says Johansen.
Emphasize that violations of the rules can go beyond the safety of escape and evacuation in case of any accidents in the outdoor areas.
– It’s bad when you take in too many people, says Johansen.
The fire brigade will not name the pubs in question for the time being, but have informed Nettavisen that they will carry out further checks before Christmas.
– There are some that need to be followed up a little more, and we’ll see if they’ve escalated. Plus, there are a number of places we haven’t been to yet, Johansen says.
