A 12-year-old child suffered a head injury when he hit his head on a rock while diving at Alqueirão beach, this afternoon, in the Gerês area.
According to Jacob Alves, coordinator of the Red Cross of Rio Caldo, the boy did not know the area and dived into a shallow place, eventually suffering a large open wound in the head area.
That Red Cross delegation ended up stopping the bleeding at the scene, stabilizing the victim for later hospital transport.
The same source also states that the help of two scouts (motorcycle) from the GNR was necessary to be able to leave the site in view of the great traffic flow that occurred this Sunday in the accesses to Gerês.
The French-speaking child was said to have been “slightly injured,” said the same source.
She was transported to Braga Hospital by the Red Cross of Rio Caldo.
