“Fire Incident in Cairo Governorate Services Building: Public Prosecution Launches Investigation”

The Public Prosecution is conducting investigations into the fire incident in the Cairo Governorate Services Building in 15th of May City.

The Public Prosecution office received a notification yesterday evening that a fire broke out in the special services building in the governorate in 15th of May City, and 36 people were injured as a result of the fire, and a woman died, so the Public Prosecution office immediately launched its investigations.

I started it by going to ask the injured in the hospital, discussing the body of the deceased, and looking at the recordings of the surveillance cameras surrounding the scene of the incident and examining it. It became clear that the building contains a number of directorates affiliated to the governorate and departments of the Ministry of Interior, and that it has traces of burning and ashes on the front and inside of the building, and shattered glass.

The Public Prosecution asked seventeen injured people and nine witnesses, and it became clear from their statements that while the workers were in the building to carry out their work, they smelled strong smoke and saw a fire breaking out in it, so they tried to escape and get out of it by using the stairs or by jumping from the windows, while some suffocated and were trapped inside by the fire. They fainted until they were rescued and transferred to the hospital for first aid. It was also found that they suffocated and their health conditions improved, except for two women who suffered serious burns, and one of them died today as a result.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution ordered to take all necessary measures to preserve lives and property, and to assign an expert in the Public Administration to investigate forensic evidence to conduct the necessary inspection of the scene of the incident, to indicate the cause and how the fire broke out, to prepare a detailed report on the result, and to inquire from the directorates and departments affected by the fire about the value of the damage. which hit and counted her property, while continuing to inquire about the condition of the injured, and also requested police investigations about the incident.
