The fire in Werkendam, in which three labor migrants from Lithuania were killed last Sunday, was not intentional. This has emerged from an investigation by the police.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. The investigation has not yet been completed. However, the bodies of the victims have been released.
It concerns three men aged 21, 31 and 53 years old. They all leave a family, reports Broadcasting Brabant.
In the apartment
The fire in the apartment above the carpentry and interior design company broke out around 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. The fire spread from the apartment to the company. It took half a day for the fire brigade to get the fire under control.
In the evening, the three bodies were found. The three Lithuanians did not work for the company.
Flags at half mast
The fatal fire hit employees of the company and residents of Werkendam hard. Among other things, a fundraising campaign has been set up to show support for the next of kin. The counter stands at more than 36,000 euros on Friday afternoon.
Dozens of flags were also hanging at half mast in the village on Thursday.
