As the Dresden fire brigade announced, not all sources of fire in the huge hall have been exposed. The comrades are therefore still on the job more than 21 hours after the alarm was raised.

In the meantime, a foam carpet has been laid in the entire hall “to smother the primary fire”. But that’s not enough!

So the owners of the building, the disposal company “Nestler”, together with the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and the fire brigade, decided to tear down “parts of the building” in the evening.

This should reduce the risk of collapse. Only then can the comrades finally gain access and fight the previously undiscovered, smaller fires.

The fire brigade informed in connection with the partial demolition that the smoke would increase again. The smell of burning will probably be noticeable again several kilometers away at night.

Affected residents should keep windows and doors closed and not call the emergency number 112.

Parts of the hall had already collapsed. The extent of the damage in the “Sector Evolution” club located there is still unclear. Only on Monday can the operators gain access to their popular party location.

The situation will be reassessed on Sunday morning. “An end of the operation is not in sight at the present time,” the firefighters concluded.
