The emergency services were informed of the fire at Sandåsen in Kragerø shortly after nine on Friday morning.
Burns on the face
The man was working on a boat that was in the shipyard when it caught fire. The police still don’t know why this happened.
He caught the flames in the face and is burned, but the police do not know the extent of the damage.
Several people in nearby buildings were evacuated in connection with the fire.
High temperature
Firefighters have been working for a while to control the fire, which has now been put out. There is still a lot of smoke in the building.
It is therefore necessary to drill holes in the roof of the boat warehouse to ventilate, explains Knut Jarle Sørdalen, head of the Kragerø fire brigade.
In connection with the fire, Kragerø firefighters received assistance from extra teams and a fire truck from the Greenland area.
According to the police, this is a department store for boats. The fire is said to have quickly spread to several boats within the warehouse. Several boats are damaged.
– The temperature was high here, says Sørdalen.
