NEW YORK – More than a dozen people were injured in a raging fire in a six-story apartment building in Manhattan on Tuesday, authorities say.
At least 15 victims were reported and they are expected to recover. The fire broke out on the first floor of the building on 186th Street shortly after 6:30 a.m., firefighters said.
The incident was brought under control in just over an hour.
Footage from our helicopter showed heavy smoke billowing out of the building as firefighters helped residents to safety.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
An investigation is ongoing.
