The fire has started in an industrial premises on Oxelgrensvägen in Södertälje.
About 15 firefighters are on site to fight the blaze, a job which is believed to take all day. How big the risk of the fire spreading cannot be said for sure at the moment.
– There is a certain risk of spread, so now we focus on ensuring that the fire does not spread to adjacent buildings. We’ll see where it goes, says Micael Jansson.
Strong smoke development
In connection with the fire, there has been a strong development of smoke from the industrial premises and residents are asked to stay indoors.
– All smoke is more or less dangerous and you should not inhale it. If you can’t avoid the smoke, you shouldn’t go out, says Micael Jansson, officer on duty at Södertörn’s fire brigade.
At 08.30 the issued VMA was lifted and residents in the vicinity no longer had to stay indoors. The fire service is still working to fight the fire.
The police are investigating arson
The police write on their website that they have set up a preliminary investigation into arson, but that no one has been arrested for a crime at the moment.
When the fire has cooled down, they will also carry out a technical investigation on the site.
No one is said to have been injured in the fire.
