Fire in high-rise building causes major fire brigade operation

Düsseldorf. A fire in a high-rise building in Düsseldorf city centre led to a major fire brigade operation on Friday evening. The criminal police are now investigating.

A fire in a utility room in a high-rise building caused a major operation by the Düsseldorf fire department late on Friday evening (30 August) at around 10:50 p.m. The firefighters were alerted to a hotel, residential and commercial building on Kurfürstenstrasse in the city center via an automatic fire alarm system.

The first emergency services to arrive found a fire on the ground floor. Additional emergency services were then called to the scene. At this point, smoke had already spread to the floors above.

The fire brigade’s quick intervention prevented the fire from spreading and stopped the spread of smoke. The emergency services quickly fought the fire and immediately initiated the necessary smoke extraction measures. The residents and guests were cared for in a fire brigade bus and checked by the emergency services.

No one was injured. After the fire service was finished, everyone was able to return to the building. The police have taken over the investigation into the cause of the fire.
