On Sunday evening, the emergency services were notified of a fire in a garage in Langenesvegen in Blomsterdalen.
– It was a chaotic message that came in. A lot of screaming, says operations manager Steinar Hausvik to BA.
In an update at 2130, the police report that the garage has been set on fire.
The emergency services are there, and the fire brigade is putting out the fire.
– There are a lot of people there. For now, we are a bit out of the garage because of some propane bottles sitting there. The fire service has set a safety distance of 300 metres, says Hausvik.
According to the police, the place is burning well. The propane bottles have burned out, and the risk of spreading is limited.
Hausvik says that the people who own the garage have got out of the house.
– No injured people have been reported, he says.
Evacuees New Year’s party
The police’s incident leader at the scene, Tom Johannessen, says that the fire is under control.
The safety zone has been reduced to 50 metres.
– There has been a party with 30-50 young people in the residential building attached to the garage. They have been evacuated, he tells BA.
Some young people are checked by health personnel on site. No one has been reported injured.
– We do not know anything about the cause of the fire. It needs to be investigated further.
– It was reported that fireworks have been set off nearby, but we do not know if it has anything to do with this, says Johannessen.
No person shall be arrested or suspected.
