Shocking photo from the fire in Attica
In a satellite photo published today Tuesday, the Copernicus Sentinel-2 image, acquired on August 12 at 12:05 p.m. shows the ongoing fire a few kilometers from the center of Athens.
Combines natural color with shortwave infrared bands to highlight fire fronts (in red tones) and burned areas (dark brown). Driven by strong winds, the fire created a cloud of smoke with a radius of more than 300 kilometers southwest towards Libya and covering the eastern part of Athens.
