On Saturday afternoon around 4 pm, the fire brigade was deployed with great resources to a fire in an apartment building on the seawall in Ostend.

Shortly before nightfall, a fire broke out on the third floor of a sixteen-storey building on the seawall. The fire brigade was quickly on the spot. The Middelkerke fire brigade also arrived on site with a car pump to reinforce it. “The fire occurred in the studio’s storage room and bathroom,” says fire chief Danny Quyo. “There was quite a bit of smoke development. The resident was not present at the time of the fire. ”
The fire brigade quickly got the fire under control. “For a moment we did not allow anyone into the staircase of the building because there was some CO development in the hallway. In the studio itself there is quite a bit of fire and water damage. The studio is therefore uninhabitable ”, said Lieutenant Danny Quyo of the Ostend fire brigade. The building had to be ventilated afterwards. No one was injured in the fire.
