Fire in an exhaust system of a fast food restaurant in Düsseldorf – Fireworld.at

DÜSSELDORF (GERMANY): The fire in a metal chimney of a snack bar caused a fire brigade to be deployed in Düsseldorf on Sunday evening, December 13, 2020. The fire brigade was able to bring the fire in the restaurant under control with two nozzles and a carbon dioxide extinguisher as well as the use of the turntable ladder.

The outside fireplace was checked with thermal cameras and a remote thermometer. A sweeping of the exhaust pipe was after consultation
not necessary with the district chimney sweep. There was property damage of around 10,000 euros.

On Sunday evening, employees of a fast-food restaurant reported a fire in the chimney of the exhaust air system. The emergency services from the Hüttenstrasse fire station arrived on site just five minutes later. A fire broke out in the area of the insulation of an exhaust system for a charcoal grill in the fast-food restaurant. The head of operations immediately had the entire course of the chimney checked by several teams. The metal pipe leading up to the roof on the outside of the building also caused a fire in the plastic cladding in the upper area of the fan. The fire on the fan was quickly brought under control with a jet pipe over the turntable ladder. At the same time, the fire on the insulation in the snack bar was extinguished with a carbon dioxide extinguisher and a jet pipe.

The firefighters also checked the entire course of the chimney with thermal imaging cameras and a remote thermometer. The fire was limited to the insulation and the fan shroud – it had not spread. In consultation with the one who was also alerted to the scene
District chimney sweeps did not need to clean the chimney. Due to the fire brigade, there were obstacles in tram traffic in the Graf-Adolf-Straße area.

After around 90 minutes, the 18 emergency services returned to their location. The head of operations estimates the damage caused by the
Brand to around 10,000 euros. Until the approval by the Office for Consumer Protection of the City of Düsseldorf, the snack bar had to cease operations until further notice.
