A fire broke out on Tuesday in a building located Rue des Ifs Eibegass, in Strasbourg.
The fire did not cause any casualties.
A balcony fire that spread
“We had a balcony fire which spread from the first floor to the third floor”, recalls a fire brigade personnel questioned on the spot.
“There were slight spreads in the apartments but the fire was limited to the facade thanks to the efficient and rapid intervention of the firefighters”, he continues.
The fire was brought under control in about twenty minutes and the intervention lasted nearly two hours.
The inhabitants evacuated, some will have to be rehoused
“All of the apartments, 20 homes, were evacuated before we arrived”, explain the relief.
“Most of the residents will be able to return to their apartments. Four apartments remain unoccupied and their inhabitants will have to be relocated,” they add.
About 35 firefighters mobilized
In total, about 35 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
In terms of material resources, nine machines were mobilized.
