The battle with the fire that was fought throughout the night by the fire brigade in Vouprasio in Western Achaia continues since the morning in order to manage to limit the fiery flames that are burning a grassy area. The big bet according to the fire brigade is that the fire does not pass into the neighboring protected forest of Strofilia.
In fact, the ground firefighting forces operating in the area have been reinforced, while water has also started to be thrown from the aerial firefighting vehicles that took off at first light.
In particular, 135 firefighters with eight pedestrian divisions and 37 vehicles, as well as two firefighting planes, are working on the front of the fire.

According to the Fire Department, the fire has not passed into the forest of Strofylia, burning until now an area mainly with reeds and some pine trees.
The fire broke out early yesterday afternoon in the area of Lamia, in the marsh on the borders of Ilia and Achaia and spread very quickly due to the strong winds and the terrain, moving towards the protected forest.
According to information, it has burned a large area of straw, while it has completely destroyed greenhouse facilities that were in the area.
Regarding the weather conditions, the winds blowing in the area are north, northeast and reach four Beaufort, while they are expected to strengthen from the afternoon hours.
