Fire extinguished at former café Kadoelen on Landsmeerderdijk

This afternoon a fire started in the building of the former Kadoelen café on Landsmeerderdijk in Noord. Asbestos may have been released, so local residents were asked to close the doors and windows.

The building has not been in use for years. Because there was a lot of disagreement about it, the former café was already in the news more often. So the owner promised several times to refurbish the building, but now the building is still empty.

Lots of smoke free

The windows are also boarded up. As a result, there were in any case no casualties, says a spokesperson for the fire service.

However, quite a lot of smoke was released by the fire. Hence, the fire service warned to stay away from the incident.
