Fire in a densely populated settlement in Setiabudi, South Jakarta (Jaksel), has been extinguished. About 200 people became victims and were forced to flee.
“(The burning object) is a residential house, the victim is affected fire there are 40 families (families), around 200 people,” said the official command center South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency, Indra, when contacted, Friday (21/7/2023).
The fire that occurred at Jalan Anggrek 2 RT 003 RW 002, Karet Kuningan Village, Setiabudi District, South Jakarta, was extinguished at around 14.40 WIB.
A total of 24 units of fire engines (damkar) and 100 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the fire. The fire spread quickly because a number of houses were made of wood or semi-permanent houses.
Triggered Short-circuit
He said there were no casualties in the fire which broke out during Friday prayers. Firefighters received information about the fire and began extinguishing operations at 12.45 WIB.
“The cause (of the fire), temporary suspicion, is from our members who requested the data electric short circuit,” she said.
Currently, residents affected by the fire are seeking refuge in schools in the vicinity of the site. Affected residents need assistance in the form of food and clothing.
“Info from the Head of RW 02, Karet Kuningan Village, the evacuation was at SMK Muhammadiyah 15 on Jalan Karbela Raya,” he said.
The fire engine has left the scene of the fire. However, the task force from the DKI Gulkarmat Service is still recording the incident. It is not known how many houses were burned.
He said there were no problems with the blackout process. Safe water sources and fire points can be reached by firefighters.
In the video uploaded by the DKI Gulkarmat Service on the Twitter account @humasjakfire, black smoke can be seen rising from the fire location.
