Fire discovered in Graz during flight: Helicopter crew called fire brigade

On Saturday afternoon, the crew of a rescue helicopter noticed smoke coming from a vacant commercial property in the Puntigam district during a flight over Graz and alerted the fire department.

The fire was quickly brought under control. In Krumegg in the municipality of St. Marein east of Graz, a Commercial building in full fireas the Styrian State Fire Brigade Association announced. Here too, the emergency services contained the flames.

Building significantly damaged

The Graz fire brigade was called to the building in Puntigam in the early afternoon with eight vehicles and 30 firefighters. Flames and thick smoke from the wooden facade of the building. To ensure the water supply at the site, a large fire engine was deployed and a 300-meter supply line was installed.

The building suffered significant damage, but no one was injured. The police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Full fire in Krumegg

Although the seven fire brigades that were alerted arrived quickly at the scene of the accident, the building was soon fully ablaze.

Around 80 firefighters with 14 vehicles fought the flames. Here too, the cause was still unclear, as was the extent of the material damage.
