A company hall in Kolham, in Groningen, has been completely reduced to ashes by a large fire. The flames burst from the roof and threatened neighboring houses. The residents have been evacuated and have been temporarily housed elsewhere, but it seems that their homes have been spared. They are expected to be allowed to go home once the fire has been signaled.

The report of the fire came in around 1.15 am. Fire brigades from Slochteren, Harkstede and Groningen, among others, have been alerted to provide assistance. As far as is known, no injuries were reported in the industrial hall.

Due to the heavy smoke development, an NL Alert was sent around 02.30 am. Residents were advised to stay indoors and to close windows and doors.
