The fire departments of Baden-Württemberg are once again receiving money from the state for planned purchases. The district of Sigmaringen benefits the most in the Tübingen administrative district: almost two of the total 13.2 million euros are going there. The regional council announced this in a press release.
Two cities receive largest sum
The fire departments in Bad Saulgau and Sigmaringen will receive the largest amounts. In Bad Saulgau, a new turntable ladder is about to be purchased, with the state contributing 265,000 euros. In Sigmaringen, 200,100 euros will go towards the extension of the fire station.

Meßkirch, Hettingen, Inzigkofen, Wald, Ostrach, Bingen, Sauldorf, Veringenstadt and Gammertingen will also benefit. They will all purchase new emergency vehicles. The state will provide a total of 837,000 euros for this purpose.
The district itself also receives money
The district is also planning purchases: a new command vehicle, a swap body vehicle with a roll-off container and a mobile breathing apparatus are to be added to the fleet in the future. The district will receive a grant of around 215,000 euros.
In addition, there is a flat-rate grant of around 294,000 euros, which is paid every year and depends on the number of active members. As district fire chief Michael Reitter explains, the district receives 90 euros for each active member, which is then distributed to the towns and municipalities.
Supra-regional tasks play a role
According to Reitter, the vehicle purchases planned by the district and the procurement of the mobile breathing apparatus are intended for supra-regional tasks. The district council is expected to decide on the details in October.
A total of 183 applications were submitted in the Tübingen administrative district – all of them were approved, according to the press release. As district president Klaus Tappeser says, the aim is to support the municipalities and districts in fulfilling their tasks: “In this way, we are strengthening the volunteer work of the fire brigade, whose emergency services need optimal equipment for their important work of protecting people, animals and property.”
