BRESKENS – The fire brigade in Breskens was busy on Monday with flooding in a cellar under a restaurant. The room was completely filled with water.
The firefighters of Breskens and the Stampershoek post were alerted around 09.30 am for the incident at the Spuiplein in Breskens. Once on site, it turned out that a cellar under a future restaurant had been filled with water. In connection with the amount of water and the extra pump capacity that was required, the emergency vehicle of the fire brigade in Oostburg was also called.
After approximately 2 hours of pumping, during which more than 20,000 liters of water had been pumped out, according to the Breskens fire department, the firefighters were able to enter the cellar. Water company Evides then started looking for the cause of the flooding.
