The fire could be seen for miles around. RTV Noord received reports from, among others, Buitenpost, Roodeschool, Noordhorn, Uithuizen and Eemshaven, where the large plumes of smoke could be seen. From the first scaling up, several corps were already present to extinguish the fire, including those from Groningen, Haren, Veendam and Delfzijl.
