MISCELLANEOUS FACTS. A fire broke out in an apartment block in Eastman in the early afternoon, in the heart of the village.
As reported by the director of the Eastman Fire Department, Daniel Lefebvre, flames broke out in the unit located on the second floor of this building on rue Principale, shortly before 1:30 p.m. Flames were even visible in the arrival of the first sappers. “The barracks are not very far away, so it helped to intervene fairly quickly. A resident tried to extinguish the fire on his own, but due to the smoke he was unable and had to get out of an emergency. He was a little inconvenienced by the smoke, but he was not injured, ”reports Chief Lefebvre.
In addition to this initial strike force, the firefighters received assistance from two neighboring fire departments, Waterloo and Austin. In total, about twenty participants fought the blaze. “It’s obvious that the apartment where the flames started is quite damaged. The other units suffered water damage, but were spared by the fire. It will take a big cleaning before the occupants can return to the site, ”continues Daniel Lefebvre.
At the time of this writing, the case remains under investigation.
Note that a firefighter was taken care of by paramedics possibly due to illness, but there will be nothing to worry about in his case.
