In the late evening hours of May 30, 2023, a fire broke out in a single-family home on Tulpenstrasse, corner of Fliederstrasse, in the Styrum district. When the first emergency services arrived, an injured person was found in front of the family home, from which thick smoke was coming. The injured person was immediately given medical care by the emergency services on site and then taken to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the other forces initiated the extinguishing measures. For this purpose, two teams wearing respiratory protection with nozzles went inside the family home to fight the fire. The outside of the building was also checked using a turntable ladder. The cause of the fire is still unclear. The fire investigators of the criminal police will investigate the course of events. Two platoons of the professional fire brigade, several management services, forces from the rescue service and the two fire brigades of the volunteer fire brigade from Broich and Heissen were involved in the operation. Blumenstraße and Fliederstraße were completely closed for the time of the extinguishing and clean-up work. (THe)
