A fire broke out in Mount Jayanti, Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi, West Java, since this afternoon. The fire brigade (Damkar) and TNI-Polri are still struggling to extinguish the fire.
“The fire trucks are on standby, the TNI-Polri are on standby, there are additional fire trucks from the PLTU. We are trying hard to extinguish and isolate the fire spots, right now, they are sporadic and difficult for fire extinguishers to reach,” said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Maruly Pardede, as reported detikJabarFriday (22/9/2023).
Maruly said the fire spot was so far away that it was impossible for fire vehicles to touch it. His party is currently focused on stopping the spread of the fire which occurred since 14.00 WIB this afternoon.
“Now we are preparing how this fire will not spread further, let alone reach residential areas, that is what we are anticipating. From the police I ordered Head of Sat Sabhara, a company level unit, then from Kodim 0622, Koramil we are working with local residents and firefighters,” he said. Maruly.
Until now, the police are still investigating the cause of the fire on Mount Jayanti. There are already initial indications about the suspected cause of the fire.
“I have ordered the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit to try out information, this is just an indication, where the fire started or whether it was burned or set on purpose is still being investigated,” added Maruly.
“The focus is now on isolating scattered hotspots so that they don’t spread to dangerous areas,” he added.
