Fire Breaks Out in Gendarmerie Barracks in Grenoble: Evacuations and Injuries Reported

A fire broke out this Wednesday within the gendarmerie barracks in Grenoble. The fire started from the 4th floor of one of the buildings where the soldiers and their families live. Several people were evacuated, two of them were slightly injured.

This Wednesday, September 13, shortly before 7 p.m., a fire broke out in a residential building located within the Offner barracks, the headquarters of the Isère gendarmerie group, avenue Léon Blum in Grenoble.

The fire started from an apartment located on the 4th floor of this building where soldiers and their families live.

The fire caused heavy smoke, visible from the city center of the capital of the Alps.

A major emergency response system was deployed. A dozen vehicles and around fifty firefighters intervened. The fire was brought under control around 7:30 p.m.

According to the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 38), “several people had to be evacuated, and two lightly injured people were treated.”

The origin of the incident has not yet been determined.
