Pattaya –
A great fire broke out Pattaya Floating Market. As one of Pattaya’s tourist icons, losses are estimated at a minimum of Baht 50 million.
Reporting from Tiger on Saturday (9/9), the Pattaya Floating Market caught fire on Friday night, around 19.00 local time. According to market staff, the spark started in a wooden toilet at the heart of the market.
Located on Sukhumvit Road, this 60 hectare floating market was completely devoured by a red rooster. Quickly, the Pattaya City Police brought 20 fire trucks there.
Although most of the fire has been extinguished, pockets of fire and embers still remain. This creates challenges for firefighters.
Market employees suffered minor injuries who escaped from the fire. Pattaya City officials confirmed that there were no serious injuries.
When the fire broke out, some traders even jumped into the canals and lakes around the market. Fortunately, the fire occurred when the market was closed, so no tourists were victims.
As one of the floating market tourist attractions, it also has another attraction, namely elephants. During the fire, the elephants were guided to a safe place by officers.
Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampiches immediately arrived at the scene to set up a command center with senior fire department officials. They find the cause of the fire and ensure support to those affected by the disaster.
