Kolkata: A fire broke out at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium during preparations for the ODI World Cup. The fire broke out in one of the dressing rooms for the teams. The fire was discovered around 11.30 pm on Wednesday. The fire brigade immediately reached and extinguished the fire. It is indicated that the shot circuit is the cause. The fire broke out days after the International Cricket Council team returned from assessing the preparations.

In the league stage, Eden Gardens will host five matches in the World Cup, including the India-South Africa match on November 5 and the semi-final on November 16. It is reported that the minor fire will not affect the World Cup. The stadium has a capacity of 65000 people to watch the game.

Ticket sales for the ODI Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India in October, are going on in six phases. After announcing the revised schedule of the ODI World Cup, the ICC has released the information regarding ticket sales. The first phase of ticket sales will begin on August 25. Tickets for all non-Indian matches and non-Indian warm-up matches will be available from 25th. Tickets for India’s warm-up matches (Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati) will go on sale on August 30. Tickets for India’s World Cup matches will go on sale from August 31.
