A fire broke out this morning in the Fletcher Hotel in Steenwijk, where 72 Ukrainians are being accommodated. At least one hotel room was on fire. The fire is now under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. According to the Safety Region, three people were injured. One of them was taken to hospital.

The hotel is no longer fully habitable due to smoke damage. A new location must be found to accommodate the Ukrainians who stayed in the hotel.

The fire broke out at 11.45 am and was quickly upgraded by the fire brigade to a ‘very large fire’. The fire brigade used two aerial platforms, among other things. An air ambulance also landed.

Firefighters from the region were called to help extinguish the fire.
