Fire Breaks Out at Asylum Seeker Center in Harderwijk: Two Arrested

A fire broke out in the asylum seeker center on Graaf Ottolaan in Harderwijk during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. No one was injured. The police have arrested two people.

The office part of the asylum seeker center was on fire, reports a spokesperson for the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). It was initially thought that the fire raged in four uninhabited residential units.

The fire brigade needed several vehicles to extinguish the fire, the North and East Gelderland safety region reports on No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. According to witnesses, people ran away after the fire. The police arrested two suspects and took them to the police station, reports the Harderwijker Courant.
